“Anthony Joshua could knock Jake Paul out with his d*ck,” John Fury told a reporter this week. “So if it goes any other way you know it’s f*cking fixed… enough said.”
The father of British boxing champion Tyson Fury is certainly not one to mince his words, and evidently, he believes there is the possibility that the recently-announced fight between Paul and Joshua could be fixed.
a bout that will go on both of their professional records
Netflix has announced the news that the former heavyweight champion and content creator-turned boxer will do battle on December 19. The pair will fight in the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida in a bout that will go on both of their professional records.
Seeking his response to the news, boxing YouTube channel iFL TV spoke with John Fury on Monday. After wishing Anthony the “best of luck,” he urged the fighter not to fix the fight, “not even for $1bn.” When the reporter highlighted that John’s son Tyson claimed he would bet $1m on Paul, John implied this proved his point. “Exactly, how does that work?” he asked.
Paul has registered 12 wins from 13 professional boxing matches. The 28-year-old’s only loss came at the hands of Tyson’s brother Tommy Fury in 2023. His most recent win came against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June this year, won by unanimous decision. The year before, he defeated American boxing legend Mike Tyson in a controversial bout, given that Tyson was 58 at the time.
Meanwhile, Joshua has won 28 fights in a total of 32. A total of 25 came through knock outs. Most recently, he lost by knockout in round five in a bout with British boxer Daniel Dubois, although the fight before he knocked out former UFC star-turned boxer Francis Ngannou in the second round.
In his past three fights, the 6-foot-6 Anthony Joshua has weighed around 252 pounds. Jake Paul’s heaviest weigh-in came against Mike Tyson when he weighed 227 pounds. He is five inches shorter than Joshua.
