Kate Cross has committed her future to Lancashire Women, signing a one-year contract that will see the experienced seamer extend her career into the 2026 season.
The deal, which follows the conclusion of her ECB central contract, represents a new chapter for Cross as she signs her first professional domestic contract with the club that shaped her journey to international cricket.
A New Beginning After International Career
After more than a decade representing England, earning over 100 caps and taking more than 130 international wickets, Cross has chosen to continue her playing career at Emirates Old Trafford. Her decision comes after careful consideration following the end of her central contract, confirming that one of English cricket’s most accomplished seamers still has plenty to offer the game.
Cross’s domestic record speaks volumes about her longevity and quality. With over 350 wickets across all formats for Lancashire, she has been instrumental in the club’s success, particularly during their historic 2025 campaign.
The 34-year-old featured in 24 matches and claimed 28 wickets as Lancashire claimed their maiden T20 County Cup and Metro Bank One-Day Cup titles. She also added The Hundred trophy with Northern Superchargers to complete a domestic treble.

Coming Full Circle at Emirates Old Trafford
According to her interview with the LancsTV, the veteran seamer spoke about her decision to extend her career,: “I’m very pleased to be here for another year. One of the main reasons I’ve had the career I have is because of Lancashire, so it feels special to come full circle and sign my first professional domestic contract with the Club.
“Given the way my England contract ended, there was a question mark over whether I would carry on playing. But once I decided to continue, it was an easy choice to do it here at Emirates Old Trafford.
“Winning two trophies with Lancashire in 2025 gave me some of my favourite moments on a cricket field, so now the challenge is to better that. As a group, we’re driven to take it on – we want more silverware because we had such a great time winning those trophies last summer.”

Director of Women’s Cricket David Thorley welcomed Cross’s decision to continue: “Kate is a proven performer over a long period of time, both domestically and internationally, and we’re delighted she has committed to another season at Emirates Old Trafford as we push for more silverware this summer.
“Her record with the ball – particularly with the new ball – speaks for itself, but it’s her leadership, professionalism and understanding of the game that really set her apart. She leads by example, drives high standards in training and has a real influence on the group.
“Kate will continue to be a huge asset to our playing squad and the wider Club this season, both for what she delivers on the field and the culture she helps create off it.”
